Don’t Put this Off

We all procrastinate to some extent. I even wrote a joke about it:
“My friend asked me if I am a procrastinator and I said, ‘I’ll let you know.'”
I’m in the midst of completely renovating my life because I’ve procrastinated about taking my health seriously. Sadly, we even procrastinate our fun. We say things like, “One day we will go to ________” or “We should ________ this weekend.”

A couple of big examples that many people have are: Going to New York to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or to be in Times Square for New Years Eve.

Courtney and I wanted to see the Eagles several years ago, but we said, “We will go next time.” Then Glenn Frye passed away. After that we decided that if a band we wanted to see was going to be in town, no matter what we would go.

So we’ve done it: Journey, Bruno Mars, Haim, Collective Soul, Everclear, Smash Mouth, Mumford & Sons, Blink-182, Edwin McCain, Bastille, Def Leppard, David Ryan Harris, Sister Hazel, and on and on the list goes.

We even went to the Eagles concert this year in Atlanta just before COVID-19 took over the world. It was a great concert, but it wasn’t the same. We will never get to see the Eagles like we would have several years back.

This year the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is canceled. I’m sure it will be back after the pandemic has ended, but what if it doesn’t?

I’m not suggesting that everyone go get into debt to do these things, but I am saying that you need to stop saying “One day…” and start saying, “What steps do we need to take to make this a reality?”

I went to New York to celebrate New Years Eve in Times Square for the first time in 2005. (Courtney came with me on my 3rd trip in 2007.)
We went to New York for Thanksgiving just a couple of years ago with Courtney’s family.

We decided we wanted to do a big road trip, so we drove to Maine and back last summer. We liked it so much we drove out to South Dakota and Colorado for Christmas last year.

You want to run a marathon? Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro? See the Pyramids in Egypt?

What are you waiting for? Don’t put this off!
